FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – April 29, 2023– The Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (BCAC-DST) in partnership with Delta Education and Life Development Foundation Inc. (DELDF) will host its 45th annual “In Pursuit of Excellence” May Week 2023 Scholarship Awards Program. May Week is a national program initiative designed to spotlight the scholastic achievement of high school students and emphasize the importance of higher education in our community. This year’s program will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2pm at Plantation High School in the auditorium. Please join us as we honor these amazing students with their awards. We are so very proud to sow into the lives of these youth who are preparing to become future leaders in our community.
With the phenomenal community support of our fundraising efforts this year and very generous scholarship donations, BCAC-DST together with DELDF, are very proud to award $95,000.00 in scholarships to deserving students to pursue their secondary educational goals. Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Delta Education and Life Development Foundation, Incorporated have served this community for decades with a mission of enriching the lives of Broward County youth through impactful program initiatives and scholarships. “As my four-year tenure as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Delta Education and Life Development Foundation, Inc. ends, I am honored to have been at the helm of this phenomenal organization. It has been very exciting to partner with the Broward County Alumnae Chapter in this signature “In Pursuit of Excellence” Scholarship Program. The monetary awards will empower Broward’s youth to travel a pathway to success.” stated Deetra Durham, Chair, DELDF.
“This annual scholarship program awards the best and the brightest in our community, opening doors for those students who may otherwise not have the funding, help support equitable outcomes to lessen the financial burden of obtaining a higher education, and helps to increase students’ confidence and self-esteem.” stated Valerie Harley-Gardner, President, BCAC-DST.
On May 6, 2023, the May Week College Fair will take place from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Boyd H. Anderson High School. This day promises to be exciting and informative. The college fair is open to all high school students.
